The NT Government has successfully rolled-out stage 1 of its $259 million patient health record system.

The NT Government has successfully rolled-out the first stage of its $259 million patient health record system ‘Acacia’.

Acacia is digital clinical care software based upon InterSystems’ TrakCare. The new system replaces 6 legacy clinical systems and integrates a dozen more into a single digital ecosystem.

It’s the biggest project of its type ever undertaken in the NT.

Having a Territory-wide electronic patient record system allows for continuing and consistent care for all Territorians, including those who live in remote communities.

NT healthcare professionals will be able to access information on patient allergies, alerts and medications making treatment decisions faster and with less risk.

Acacia is now in use at Katherine Hospital, the first a major step towards the full implementation of the health investment.

The Acacia health system will be rolled-out in phases to minimise the impact to frontline NT health workers and to protect patient safety.
