Building a strong local workforce in cyber security

The NT Government is building a strong local workforce by providing opportunities to upskill in cyber security locally.

Partnering with the Australian Government and Charles Darwin University, the NT Government is providing Territorians the opportunity to upskill in cyber security within the NT.

The partnership delivers opportunities to build a network of job-ready cyber defenders in the Territory through 2 new VET courses:

  • Certificate IV in Cyber Security
  • Certificate in Cyber Management

There will also be additional scholarship places available for Higher Education students

Fee-free places are available to eligible participants, which includes:

  • women
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders and
  • regional and remote Territorians.

About the courses

Certificate IV in Cyber Security

This course provides practical training in:

  • identifying security vulnerabilities
  • analysing and responding to cyber incidents
  • securing devices
  • network security and programming.

Students taking up or undertaking this course will be eligible for travel subsidies to attend intensives at CDU if they are:

  • from a regional area
  • employed by a NT ICT enterprise.

Certificate in Cyber Management

This is a 3 month course.

It helps businesses and organisations to better protect against cyber threats, through staff awareness and risk management and understanding where to seek specialist services.
