Bridging the digital divide for another Territory community

Residents in the remote Barkly community of Canteen Creek now have improved 4G mobile coverage and broadband thanks to the NT Government’s partnership with Telstra in the Remote Telecommunications Co-investment Program (RTCP).
The $28 million RTCP is delivering telecommunications infrastructure in remote communities, tourism locations and transport corridors.
Canteen Creek is the latest community to receive these improved telecommunications services, which will enhance connectivity and improve economic, health and social prospects for local residents.
Digital connectivity is critical to rebuilding the Territory economy, unlocking regional growth, social connection and cultural expression, and to bridging the digital divide.
Since the inception of its co-investment programs, the NT Government and Telstra have jointly invested to bring new connectivity and mobile phone services to more than 70 remote communities across the Northern Territory.
