New mobile coverage for remote Territory communities

Published: 10 Jun 2026

Twelve remote communities and homelands across the Northern Territory now have mobile phone coverage for the first time through the Remote Small Cells Program (ReSC).

Better access to essential services

Delivered through a $5.8 million co-investment between the NT Government and Telstra, the new 4G coverage helps people access emergency services, telehealth appointments, online education and other important digital services.

Mobile coverage also makes it easier for residents to stay in touch with family, friends and support networks.

Connecting more Territorians

The rollout has delivered coverage to communities across Central Australia, East Arnhem, the Top End, Big Rivers and the Barkly region, helping improve connectivity in some of the Territory’s most remote locations.

The project is part of the Department of Corporate and Digital Development’s ongoing work to strengthen digital connectivity and ensure Territorians can access the services and opportunities they need, wherever they live.
