DCDD provides finance operations, development initiatives and advisory services that support government agencies to manage their financial resources.

DCDD operates the NT Government vehicle fleet, with the exception of NT Police, Fire and Emergency Services vehicles.

Apply for a short term loan of a government vehicle

Northern Territory (NT) Fleet’s vehicle short term loan program is a community service obligation.

The program is managed out of the NT Government’s light vehicle fleet and is available to:

  • not-for-profit charitable
  • volunteers or
  • community based non-government organisations.

They must have a physical presence in the NT to apply for a short term loan.

Short term loans are generally no longer than 4 weeks.

Apply to gift or loan a government vehicle

Each year, government vehicles scheduled to be sold are made available for gifting or loaning to eligible community groups.

Community groups can apply to gift or loan a government vehicle through the Community Benefit Fund program.

Two separate rounds are advertised each year.

Buy a used government vehicle at auction

Surplus government vehicles are sold at fortnightly public auctions.

These auctions are held in Darwin (Winnellie) and Alice Springs at the Pickles Auctions facilities.

If you want to buy a vehicle, you can bid in person at either location or online.

Vehicles not sold at auction are available to buy online through Pickles Auctions.

DCDD provides operation and oversight of the government’s ICT network, enterprise architecture, cyber security operations and sourcing of ICT services to manage and sustain government’s digital ecosystem.

Information Management Services (IMS) looks after government’s records. This includes:

  • records management advice and assistance
  • help desk services for TRM software, which is used to manage government records
  • records appraisal, sentencing and disposal
  • records training and development
  • mail and courier services
  • freedom of information.

DCDD coordinates procurement and contract management administration services, development initiatives, advice and management of across-government contracts, enabling agencies to source the supplies needed for their business operations.

Access the asbestos register

DCDD leased government properties have been checked for asbestos and material containing asbestos.

The checks were carried out under the Work Health and Safety Act 2011.

Building owners have provided an asbestos register and management plan for properties that may be affected.
